CRY HAVOC – The Regan Revolution Review

If you have read Carr’s earlier James Reece thrillers, this one takes us back to 1968 and the protagonists is Reece’s father, Tom Reece. He’s a character we know from the earlier books, but you certainly don’t need to know too much back story because enough is explained in Cry Havoc.

The Secret War That Forged Tom Reece (1968)

On August 4, 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson reported attacks in the Gulf of Tonkin—an escalation that set America fully on the path to Vietnam. A decade of covert ops already smoldered: CIA sabotage, deniable raids, and, later, MACV-SOG missions in Laos and Cambodia. This secret war forges Tom Reece in Jack Carr’s CRY HAVOC.

CRY HAVOC is a novel of chaos and consequence. Set in 1968—a year of assassinations, riots, and shifting global power—the story follows Tom Reece, a Navy SEAL and covert operative, as he navigates a hidden war in Southeast Asia. As American resolve fractures at home, a far more dangerous plan is unfolding abroad—one that threatens to tilt the balance of power for generations.
