Today on the Danger Close Podcast, I’m joined by investigative journalist and two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning author Joby Warrick to discuss his new book, THE JACKAL.
We met through my Fox Nation special, JACK CARR INVESTIGATES: CARLOS THE JACKAL.
This episode will not be found on YouTube as I am still prohibited from posting there due to a YouTube scrub of past videos that were deemed in violation of YouTube policies…namely podcasts that include talk of firearms featured in the Terminal List series novels, multi-purpose canines (extremely puzzling), and situational awareness tips from a former police officer. Until I can break out of YouTube jail, you can find this episode of the Danger Close Podcast and all past episodes on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
This conversation explores Joby’s path into journalism, his prison interview with Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, better known as Carlos the Jackal, and the events that turned Carlos into the world’s first celebrity terrorist. We also discuss the OPEC hostage crisis, the network that enabled Carlos to operate for decades, the mistakes that ultimately led to his capture, and his influence on the terrorists who followed.
Joby Warrick’s book THE JACKAL: THE RISE AND FALL OF CARLOS, THE WORLD’S FIRST SUPER-TERRORIST is available now.

Go beyond the books.
