America 250: Honoring the Men of MACV-SOG
Returning to Vietnam With MACV-SOG Veterans
We are back from Vietnam! I am humbled and eternally grateful to have had this privilege. I’ll be reflecting on the time spent in the company of our MACV-SOG heroes for a long time to come.
Thank you to the Best Defense Foundation founders Donnie and Kathryn Edwards for making this program happen, returning to Vietnam with 8 of our MACV-SOG veterans, recognizing their service, honoring their sacrifice, and facilitating an opportunity for closure.
Thank you to John Stryker Meyer for connecting the foundation with MACV-SOG veterans interested in returning to Southeast Asia over 50 years after they stepped up and answered the call.
Thank you to Delta Air Lines for your support of the Best Defense Foundation and for sponsoring this program, ensuring our Vietnam veterans went first class all the way.
Thank you to Fly Kitt for providing us all with Long Haul Trip Kits. I followed the program both to and from Vietnam and was blown away by the results. The app was next level. I’ll be getting kits for my family in advance of our next international adventure and will be recommending them to Amazon Studios for the cast and crew of the TV shows if we travel overseas to film.
Thank you to all the Best Defense Foundation volunteers who devoted so much time and energy to making this program such a powerful experience for all.
And to our MACV-SOG veterans – you inspired a generation of special operators – you set the standard – you built the legacy. It’s been an honor.
I hope to raise a glass with you all at the Special Operations Association Reunion later this year! I was also taking notes for the next Tom Reece thriller…
