CRY Havoc
The Regan Revolution Book Review
“Wow! My initial observation less than a quarter of the way into the read was the book defies genre.”
“If you have read Carr’s earlier James Reece thrillers, this one takes us back to 1968 and the protagonists is Reece’s father, Tom Reece. He’s a character we know from the earlier books, but you certainly don’t need to know too much back story because enough is explained in Cry Havoc.
This was my favorite Jack Carr novel so far for a lot of reasons. More full disclosure: During the timeframe this book occurs, 1968 Vietnam and Laos, I was living in Southeast Asia as many of the events in this book were unfolding. My father was a CIA officer assigned to a large embassy in the region and he was frequently in and out of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and many other Southeast Asian countries during the conflicts. I’ve heard stories of this timeframe directly from him.”
