10 Fan Questions Answered About The Terminal List Starring Chris Pratt

10 Questions About The Terminal List Amazon Series

DID YOU PICK CHRIS PRATT TO PLAY JAMES REECE?

As I started writing THE TERMINAL LIST back in December of 2014 there was only one person I envisioned portraying my protagonist, Navy SEAL Sniper James Reece, in the film adaptation of my debut novel – Chris Pratt.  He may seem like an unlikely choice back then, well before Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers and Jurassic World, but to me he was and IS the perfect person to bring James Reece to life.  I recently spent a week on set and I can tell you that Chris is bringing his A-game: visceral, primal, dark, gritty and violent – get ready!  How did Chris find out about THE TERMINAL LIST to begin with?  My SEAL Teammate and dear friend, who now also has a role in the series, Jared Shaw, handed it to him in December of 2017.  The rest is history.

WHEN DOES IT START FILMING?

THE TERMINAL LIST is currently filming. . .

WHEN IS IT COMING OUT AND WHERE WILL IT AIR?

I don’t have an exact date yet.  The closest I can guess is sometime in 2022.  It will be an eight-part series on Amazon Prime.

WHO ELSE IS STARRING IN IT?

I continue to be blown away by the cast: Taylor Kitsch, Constance Wu, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Riley Keough, and Patrick Schwarzenegger have been announced thus far.  I will post about additions to the cast on social channels as they drop.  Everyone has been so cool.  I am extremely excited for who will portray Liz Riley but that is still classified. . . What I can tell you is that she is AMAZING and has done a ton of work researching this part.  Stay tuned. . .

WHO IS DIRECTING?

The great Antoine Fuqua is directing the first episode and is executive producing the series.  What’s just surreal is that when I envisioned Chris Pratt starring as James Reece back in December of 2014, the director I thought would be perfect to tell this story was Antoine Fuqua.  I am beyond humbled that he decided to devote his creative energies to THE TERMINAL LIST.  Each episode of the season will have a different director.

DID YOU HELP WRITE THE SCREENPLAY?

I worked with the showrunner, David DiGilio, on the first episode and then advised on the scripts.  David could not have been more welcoming.  He mentored me through the screenwriting process over the past year and I learned a ton!

ARE YOU A TECHNICAL ADVISOR ON SET?

No.  I am an executive producer along with Chris and Antoine.  A SEAL buddy, Ray Mendoza from War Office Productions is running a team of technical advisors and working with stunt coordinators on set.  He is CRUSHING IT!  Gary Tuers of Xtreme Props is going above and beyond to outfit James Reece and the other characters in the series with weapons and gear that stay true to the novel.

ARE THEY STAYING TRUE TO THE STORY?

There will certainly be changes.  If you read David Morrell’s 1972 novel FIRST BLOOD and then watch the 1982 film adaptation starring Sylvester Stallone, you will experience two different ways of telling Rambo’s story – BOTH FANTASTIC – but with very different endings.  Understanding that a story will change when adapted from a written narrative to a visual medium, what was of vital importance to me, Chris and Antoine was keeping the authenticity of the novel – primal and gritty.  When you hand your work over for a film adaptation there is a lot of trust that goes with it and I can say that this project could not be in better hands.  Everyone involved is knocking it out of the park!

WILL YOU HAVE A CAMEO?

We shall see. . .
